Protecting Our Community
Identity & Account Verification
We use email verification and account review procedures to help reduce misuse of our platform. Additional identity verification is planned to help address impersonation and fraudulent accounts; email verification alone does not verify a person's identity.
Fraud Prevention
Admins review submitted debt stories and can inspect alerts for shared profile details, matching stories and frequent submissions. We plan to extend these checks to supporting documents and creditor information. A warning is a reason to investigate, not a finding of fraud.
Respectful Interactions
We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, threats, intimidation, exploitation, or attempts to take advantage of vulnerable members.
Safe Financial Support
Our intended payment model would direct financial contributions toward verified creditors through authorised payment channels, rather than into the personal accounts of Broke members. Payment processing is not yet available in the app.
Reporting & Accountability
Members will be able to report suspicious accounts, inappropriate behaviour, and potential violations of our community rules when the reporting tool is introduced. Reports are intended to be reviewed before appropriate action is taken.
Admins can currently send in-app notices, block or unblock accounts, and review the recorded reasons for those actions.
